Ponta Delgada's Past & Present
Behold the “Portas da Cidade,” the iconic 18th-century city gates, made from volcanic stone and adorned with the royal and city coats of arms and the symbol of the city at the Gonçalo Velho Square. Continue the history of the capital of São Miguel at the 16th-century São Brás Fortress, before driving through churches and history, and a quick stroll inside the António Borges Botanical Gardens showcasing a variety of rare and exotic plants.
Conclude the visit at Mercado da Graça, founded in 1848, which was recently relocated and modernized, and discover local produce, from fresh fruit to fish, meats, spices, and tea.

Furnas Valley Natural Exploration
Indulge in a full-day immersion in the Furnas Valley, famed for its bubbling geothermal activity.
Drive to Poça da Dona Beija and enjoy soaking in the naturally heated, mineral-rich water thermal pools. Lunch, a cozido (traditional stew), is served in a nearby restaurant. After lunch, return to Ponta Delgada with a visit to Ribeira dos Caldeirões Natural Park and its beautiful waterfalls, lush vegetation, and watermills.

West Island Landscapes
Visit an astonishingly beautiful pair of crater lakes, one green (Lagoa Verde) and one blue (Lagoa Azul). Together, they form the Lagoa das 7 Cidades that rests within a massive volcanic crater.
Take in the view of the lakes from the Miradouro da Vista do Rei, the most famous scenic overlook in the Azores. Visit the Inferno Grotto for a beautiful view of the lakes, and enjoy a stroll at Mosteiros, a village on the coast known for its unique rock formations, which create natural swimming pools. At the end of the tour, admire the majestic views of the island’s interior fields’ patchwork.
