Travel to Ponta do Garajau, which is an 180m (590ft) high cape, where there are excellent views over the town and Funchal Bay.
Visit Our Lady of Monte Church and see the tomb of the last Habsburg emperor. Climb into a wicker basket to experience the island’s famous “snowless sleigh ride.” Sample Madeira wines at a wine lodge.

Discover the island’s gorgeous plants and landscapes, from gardens to mountains. Visit the Botanical Gardens, founded in 1960 and noted for their wide collection of rare plants, from native species to rare orchids and cacti. Ride the modern funicular up the mountainside to Monte.
Visit the small church, home to the island’s patron saint. Take the thrilling snowless sleigh ride down to Funchal.

When in Funchal…
Experience the island’s “snowless sled ride” and sample Madeira wine on this half-day tour. Ascend to Monte and take in the views. At the top, tour Our Lady of Monte to witness the miniature statue of the patron saint of Madeira above the altar before taking a thrilling toboggan ride, a tradition since the early 19th century
Continue on to a Madeira wine lodge, with some of the world’s oldest and most complex wines. There, you can enjoy a wine tasting experience and choose wines from the cellar store to bring back to the yacht.

Island Panoramas
Enjoy sweeping vistas of the island’s most beautiful landmarks before visiting an embroidery shop. Drive past vineyards, terraced fields, pinewoods, and eucalyptus groves to the cliff top of Cabo Girão, the second-highest sea cliff in the world, with a sheer drop of over 580 m (1,900 ft) to the waves below.
Take in dramatic views of the coast and Funchal in the distance. Stop at Pico dos Barcelos for panoramic views of Funchal with its red-tiled roofs. Then head to the embroidery shop, where you’ll learn that hand-stitched embroidery has long been one of Madeira’s exports, before visiting the Mercado dos Lavradores.

Madeira Off-Road Adventure
Discover the pristine natural beauty of Madeira with a fun and exciting jeep expedition. Board your 4WD vehicles and depart from the pier. Ride in a caravan to Camara de Lobos, the famous fishing village on the island and a favorite haunt of Sir Winston Churchill in the 1950s.
In addition to encountering the lush flora and small waterways created by the island’s volcanic origins, explore hidden valleys, mountains, and other locales that can only be accessed via off-road vehicles.
Following the excursion, stop at a local bar for refreshments before commencing the approximately 45-minute return drive to the pier.

On this half-day tour, drive to Poiso Pass, featuring sweeping views of Pico de Arieiro, rising 1,798 m (5,900 ft) above sea level.
Continue to Santo do Serra and Camoes Pequeno to enjoy a scenic overlook of Machico, a 15th-century resort town, before visiting the village of Santo do Serra to taste traditional Madeira cake with refreshments at the Santo da Serra Golf Course.
Then head to The Blandy Wine Lodge, established in 1811, one of the oldest and most respected producers of Madeira, to learn about and sample the varieties of Madeira wine, before visiting the gift store.
